Welcome to the Gîte de l'Hermitage!
Sports Activities:
- You can play golf at the Villedieu International Golf Course (15 km, 10 miles).
- You can go windsurfing, boating, swimming, hiking or fishing at the lake "L'Etang de Bellebouche" (5 km, 3 miles).
- You can go cycling or hiking over the many nature trails throughout the Parc Naturel Régional de la Brenne. Bicycles can be rented at the "Maison de Tourisme" in Mézières-en-Brenne (12 km, 7 miles).
- You can go canoeing or kayaking on the Creuse river, near Tournon Saint-Martin (35 km, 20 miles), or at the "Base de plein air" near Le Blanc. Rock-climbing, fishing and mountain-biking is also possible.
- You can also go parachuting at the aerodrome of Le Blanc. (35 km, 20 miles).
- You can go swimming during the summer in Buzançais (10 km, 6 miles), or all year round at the indoor pools in Argenton, Chateauroux, or Chatillon. We recommend the pool at Argenton (30 km, 18 miles) with its jacuzzi, water slides, and massage pool.
For Nature-lovers:
- There are many nearby sites for bird-watching, in particular near the lake "L'Etang de Bellebouche" where there is a blind that allows you to see the nesting herons up close in spring and summer.
- For other nature activities, sites and hiking trails, the best places to find information are at the "Maison de la Nature" near Mézières-en-Brenne (12 km, 7 miles) or at the "Maison du Parc" at Le Bouchet, near Rosnay (15 km, 9 miles).
For Rainy Days:
- Aside from the indoor pools mentioned above and the board games you'll find in the gîte, there is a satellite TV, DVD player and VCR.
- A little further away there are some lovely castles to visit, such as the castle at Bouges (30 km, 18 miles), Tallyrand's castle at Valençay (40 km, 25 miles) or George Sand's manor at Nohant (50 km, 30 miles).
